Richard Blackwood won’t return to EastEnders

Richard Blackwood won’t be returning to ‘EastEnders’.
The 47-year-old actor played Walford bad boy Vincent Hubbard in the BBC One soap from February 2015 until April 2018 but although fans miss seeing him in Albert Square he insists he’s done with the show.
Speaking to RadioTimes.com, he explained: "I would say I’ve come to a close with ‘EastEnders’.
"I had a great time and they decided they would stop the character when they did. In fairness, I was also at a place where I wasn’t sure how much more we could get out of Vincent; I always believe you should leave a situation before people need you to. The way it was starting to go for me, I knew it was going down a road where I didn’t know how much more we could get. So I thought maybe it’s for the best as well."
Vincent vanished from the Square after he was last seen facing gunpoint by a corrupt cop, and had seemingly left wife Kim Fox (Tameka Empson) a note saying he had left her.
Richard now stars in Channel 4 soap ‘Hollyoaks’ as Felix Westwood and he is grateful to ‘EastEnders’ because he doesn’t think he would have landed his new role if it wasn’t for his tenure as Vincent.
He added: "Now I’m here, my loyalty is ‘Hollyoaks’. If anything ‘EastEnders’ got me to the place where I’m ready for ‘Hollyoaks’, not to discredit it. I was there for three years working on a fast pace show having to bring a performance daily."
What’s more, Richard has praised the production team for allowing him to "experiment" on ‘Hollyoaks’.
He said: "’EastEnders is tough’. It’s five cameras, 14 scenes a day and it is knackering. When I came here, it’s not five cameras. I appreciated the time you could take on a scene, it didn’t feel rushed. It allowed me to experiment more which I’m grateful for. My loyalty 100 per cent is with ‘Hollyoaks’ now."
