Joe Wicks: I’m blown away with response to PE class

Joe Wicks has been "blown away" by the response to his at-home workouts.
The 33-year-old fitness coach – who is widely known as The Body Coach – launched a series of exercises classes on Monday (23.03.20) for kids to do from home to ensure they’re still getting exercise despite UK schools closing last week due to the coronavirus.
He told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "I’ve been blown away by the response – I’m buzzing."
Over two million people tuned into his YouTube channel ‘The Body Coach TV’ for the free 30-minute session.
Joe first thought of the idea last week after Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced schools would close on Friday (20.03.20) to help limit the spread of the respiratory illness.
The fitness guru was due to visit schools across the country to teach children about exercise, but it was cancelled after the announcement.
He explained: "I was about to do a UK tour of schools, teaching kids about exercise, but it was cancelled.
"Late last week I was in bed thinking, ‘How can I reach all these kids? They’re going to need some help.’ I felt quite emotional about it. Then I came up with the idea of PE with Joe."
His big idea was in the works for some time as Joe is determined to help kids tackle physical and mental health issues with fun activities.
He added: "I’ve been working on ways to get kids healthier and more active for the past four years.
"It’s taken a pandemic and people being locked in their houses for everyone to realise that our kids being active is so important. It’s essential for their physical and mental well-being."
