Jake Wood planning celebrity boxing project

Jake Wood wants to bring celebrity charity boxing matches to television screens.
The ‘EastEnders’ star – who has played Max Branning since 2006 – is hoping to land a new show calling for famous faces to get trained up for friendly fistfights in the ring to raise money for worthy causes, and he’s already in talks for a potential TV home.
Speaking to The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column, he said: "We have a TV company looking at it at the moment. It would be celebrities boxing on TV. I think the time is right for it."
The 47-year-old actor has been involved in the sport since he was a youngster, and now has his own ‘Pound For Pound’ podcast with former professional boxer and Sky Sports pundit Spencer Oliver.
He hopes to follow the footsteps of other television competition shows by training up celebrities and watch them compete for the title.
He explained: "You see celebrities train for things like ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ and we think it would work as it is a great sport. It would be great TV.
"he idea is to train celebs from scratch and you would have proper trainers. It could be the best of three rounds.
"You could have anyone on the show. It would be like ‘EastEnders’ versus ‘Coronation Street’. You could get Piers Morgan fighting with Jeremy Clarkson — that would be good. I would watch that. Or we could have ‘Emmerdale’ versus ‘Hollyoaks. ‘"
What’s more, the former ‘Strictly’ contestant thinks boxing is a great way to fight knife crime and get kids off the street.
He added: "They are picking up blades. We have got to get in these kids’ nuts somehow.
"Boxing is a good way — discipline. Just something to get the old heart beating and the adrenaline going. I know it is a dangerous sport but it is also a good way to shape a man."
