Myles Stephenson at ‘high-risk’ during coronavirus pandemic due to snowboarding injuries

Myles Stephenson is in self-isolation amid the coronavirus pandemic, because he is in the "high-risk" category following his near-fatal snowboarding accident.
The 28-year-old singer is "feeling much better" following the incident in Andorra last month when he suffered a ruptured spleen and cracked ribs, putting him in intensive care, but he has locked himself away in his bedroom since leaving hospital to avoid catching the virus.
He said: "I’m getting there, I’m feeling much better.
"If you saw me a few weeks ago I was in a pretty bad state, but I’m much better now. I’m getting there, slowly but surely."
When asked how self-isolation was going for him because he is in the "high-risk category", he said: "I like gaming, so I’ve spent most of my time in self-isolation on my PlayStation in my bedroom.
"But because my spleen was ruptured it means my immune system is quite light, and I damaged my lungs as well so there was around 1500mls of blood in and around my lungs, so my respiratory system isn’t greatest as well.
"As we all know the virus affects the respiratory system and breathing, so I’ve got to be pretty cautious around people.
"I haven’t seen any of my friends yet."
However, Myles is confident he and Kate Garraway will still be able to join forces for their new Saturday morning show ‘Breakfast at Garraway’s’.
Speaking to Kate and Ben Shephard on ‘Good Morning Britain’, he added: "I’m doing ‘Breakfast at Garraways’, it’s happening. We have to, we have to uplift the spirits. We have to get it done."
Earlier this month, Myles took to Twitter to tell fans he had left intensive care.
He wrote: "After 12 days I’ve made it out of ICU and onto a general ward! Now time for Phsyio In breathing properly and to start walking hopefully by Wednesday! (sic)"
Myles recently detailed the serious nature of his injuries.
In a video message from his hospital bed, he said: "I was involved in a snowboarding accident about a week ago which resulted in me rupturing my spleen breaking, broken ribs and having internal bleeding. This resulted in blood in my lungs.
"That’s meds going straight to my jugular artery. That noise is they operated they put an incision through my rib cage just above my lungs made a puncture and just over three days or two days.
"It’s drained 950ml of blood which apparently a lot of blood to be in your lungs but we’re good. This is a quick message to say thank you to everyone messaging. I’ve been told everyone’s been asking about me."
