Noughts + Crosses cast banned from extreme sports during filming

The ‘Noughts + Crosses’ cast were banned from extreme sports during filming in South Africa.
Leading man Jack Rowan – who plays Callum McGregor in BBC One’s adaptation of Malorie Blackman’s novel – admitted the actors "weren’t allowed" to take part in anything which would risk injury and put filming in jeopardy.
He’s quoted by The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column as saying: "I didn’t really do much because we weren’t allowed to.
"We had a big meeting when we started and I wasn’t allowed to do any bungee jumping or shark cage diving in case of the possible end."
The drama – set in an alternate society, in which black "Crosses" rule over white "Noughts" – first aired on BBC One on March 5th, with the whole series available on iPlayer, and writer Malorie had high hopes after being heavily involved in the creative process.
She recently admitted: "I feel I’ve been totally included in that process, and there were so many times where I thought, ‘I wish I put that in my book, can I go back and put that in my book?’ "
The 58-year-old author has penned five novels and two novellas in the series and revealed while the next instalment will "definitely" be the last, she was inspired by the adaptation of her own work.
She added: "This really is the last one. It’s called Endgame and I think, actually, [the TV series] has made a difference to it, but this is going to definitely be the last one."
The thrilling love story set in a dangerous, alternative universe sees ‘Born to Kill’ star Jack as Callum alongside newcomer Masali Baduza as Sephy Hadley.
