Paul Usher returning to EastEnders as Danny Hardcastle

Paul Usher is returning to ‘EastEnders’ this month.
The BBC One soap have confirmed the 58-year-old actor – who first played Danny Hardcastle for a stint in 2019 – will be back after last being seen in Walford settling some unfinished business with Steve McFadden’s character Phil Mitchell.
In a statement, Paul said: "I’m thrilled that Danny Hardcastle has returned to ‘EastEnders’ and yet again he is causing havoc in his typical menacing way.
"I am really looking forward to the viewers reaction as the story unfolds."
The storyline hit another level when Ben Mitchell (Max Bowden) threatened Danny – who was previously involved in a money-laundering scheme with Phil in Spain – into going into business with him.
However, Danny then had Louise Mitchell (Tilly Keeper) kidnapped before the Mitchells rescued her, and he was last seen as Phil warned him to never get in contact again.
Now, he looks set to return to Albert Square and he’ll be back with a proposition for Ben.
Even before his ‘EastEnders’ debut last year, Paul was well-known to soap fans after playing Brookside’s Barry Grant on and off from 1982 until the show ended in 2003, and he also spent three years on ‘The Bill’ as Des Taviner.
When he appeared in Walford, the star thanked his fans for their kind words and revealed he was "loving" his time on set.
He tweeted at the time: "Thank you for all the tweets re Danny’s arrival on
@bbceastenders! Loving every minute of it. X (sic)"
And after a ‘Brookside’ fan asked if he was really on ‘EastEnders’ – and whether the show was worth her time – he heaped praise on show boss Kate Oates.
He responded: "Yes Sharon! Have a watch, it’s great at the moment. Kate Oates is doing an amazing job. Thanks for the tweet."
