Nicola Roberts was nearly rumbled on The Masked Singer

Nicola Roberts’ Girls Aloud bandmates nearly rumbled her on ‘The Masked Singer’.
The flame-haired singer has confessed Cheryl Tweedy and Kimberley Walsh knew straight away she was Queen Bee but she kept denying it.
She said: "As soon as the Masked Singer advert was released, Cheryl texted me saying, ‘That’s you on the Masked Singer.’ I responded, ‘No it’s not. I haven’t even seen the advert’. Luckily she bought it. But then, when the first episode came on, both she and Kimberley called me and said, ‘I don’t know how you think you can lie to us, we know it’s you’, but I kept denying it. Of course, they were the only ones who could recognise my voice, as we were in each other’s pockets for so long. Bursting into song randomly in a dressing room, obviously we know each other’s tone and we have to harmonise with each other. We had to do so many records together so we know how each of the others sound."
Nicola held a viewing party the night of the show’s final and her pals "burst out crying" when she won.
She added: "I texted all my friends and said I was having a gathering on Saturday. I didn’t tell them what it was for. It was so nice that everyone came together for me. When I won, Cheryl and Kimberley couldn’t believe it. They were so proud they burst out crying."
Meanwhile, Nicola also revealed she found it "refreshing" working on different styles of music on the show.
She shared to The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: "Girls Aloud had a style of music, so you come together and work as a group. On the show it was refreshing for me to be able to sing a Lewis Capaldi or an Alicia Keys ballad."
