Love Island bosses hold crisis talks

‘Love Island’ bosses are holding crisis talks on whether to "rest" the show or not following the tragic death of Caroline Flack.
The television presenter – who fronted the show for five series – tragically passed away on Saturday (15.02.20) after taking her own life and in the wake of her passing, bosses at the helm of the ITV2 dating show are discussing its future.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: "The tragic news about Caroline saw a last-minute meeting called. ‘Love Island’ is commercially huge but those with vested interests are concerned about its effect. There was talk of resting it for a series and even taking it out of production for the foreseeable future."
The current winter series didn’t air as usual on Sunday (16.02.20) night following the death of the former host, with producers of the ITV2 reality show choosing to postpone the next episode until Monday (17.02.20) night, where a tribute to Caroline will be included.
Bosses said in a statement: "Many people at ITV knew Caroline well and held her in great affection. All of us are absolutely devastated at this tragic news. After careful consultation between Caroline’s representatives and the Love Island production team and given how close we still are to the news of Caroline’s tragic death we have decided not to broadcast tonight’s ‘Love Island’ out of respect for Caroline’s family. ‘Love Island’ will return tomorrow night which will include a tribute to Caroline who will be forever in our hearts."
‘Love Island’ bosses previously took to social media to express their sadness at her passing, when they wrote: "Everybody at Love Island and ITV is shocked and saddened by this desperately sad news. Caroline was a much loved member of the Love Island team and our sincere thoughts and condolences are with her family and friends."
