Shaughna Phillips dumped from Love Island

Shaughna Phillips has been dumped from ‘Love Island’.
The 25-year-old democratic services advisor was brutally dumped from the ITV2 reality show on Friday (14.02.20), after Luke Mabbott – whom she had expressed a liking for – chose to couple up with Demi Jones.
Speaking as he made his decision between the two girls, Luke said: "I want to couple up with this girl because when we do talk, it’s easy, the conversations flow, and she never fails to make me laugh. I feel like she hasn’t had the best luck in the villa, but I do feel that’s gonna change. This has been probably the hardest decision I’ve had to make yet, and I don’t want anyone to go, but I had to go with my heart and my gut. So the girl I would like to couple up with is Demi."
The news was devastating for fellow Islander Paige Turley, who was left in tears after Luke made his choice, as she has built up a strong connection with Shaughna since the pair entered the villa on day one.
In tears in the Beach Hut, she said: "You do not realise, like, how attached to people you get in here. I started my journey with Shaughna, and she was like … as just a big a part of this journey as Finn [Tapp, Paige’s boyfriend] is. So to lose her, it’s not nice. ‘Love Island’ is not all about romance, you need friendship as well."
And Shaughna is equally as upset to leave Paige behind.
She told the 22-year-old singer: "I came in here, and I found someone that I love. I did. I can’t wait to see you again, seriously. I’m just going to miss you so much, I really am."
But she isn’t too disheartened by the dumping, as she said she was "ready" to leave after previously having her heart broken when her partner Callum Jones returned from Casa Amor with new girl Molly Smith.
‘Love Island’ returns on Sunday (16.02.20) at 9pm on ITV2.
