Love Island summer series ‘cut by two weeks?

‘Love Island’ bosses are reportedly cutting the summer series by two weeks.
The popular ITV2 dating show is said to be getting shortened later this year from eight weeks to six, which would bring it in line with the current winter run.
According to Broadcast, bosses have decided to cut back the length of the upcoming season when the programme returns over the summer.
This would bring ‘Love Island’ back to the same number of weeks as its 2015 and 2016 editions, before its popularity soared and producers decided to up it to eight weeks from 2017 onward.
While the current winter version has still proven a big success – with just over two million viewers tuning in on Monday night (10.02.20) – the figures have dropped from the regular edition’s peak of three million.
It’s not yet known if regular host Caroline Flack will return to her role after Laura Whitmore – whose partner Iain Stirling narrates the show – stepped up for the winter series.
Meanwhile, hopeful romantics looking for love can now apply for the summer season with applications open for a spot in the traditional Mallorca villa.
In an advert, the ‘Love Island’ team said: "ITV2 are looking for vibrant singles from across the UK who want to head to the sun, in search of love.
"The chosen cast will spend time in a luxury villa, getting to know one another, but to remain in paradise they must win the hearts of the public and their fellow Islanders who ultimately decide their fate on ‘Love Island.’ "
The closing date for submitting an application – which is open to people aged 18 or over – is April 30.
Those wanting to take part need a valid passport for the entirety of the shoot, and for six months after the show is finished.
