Ralf Little hopes to keep Death in Paradise role for 20 years

Ralf Little is hoping to keep his ‘Death in Paradise’ role for the next 20 years.
The 39-year-old actor made his debut as Detective Neville Parker on Thursday’s episode (06.02.2020) – after previous actors Kris Marshall and Ardal O’Hanlon stepped down – but is praying he can keep his lead role for the next two decades.
Speaking on the Series Linked Podcast, he said: "I mean my missus might have an opinion on this, but I’d be happy doing it for 20 years."
Ralf joined the BBC One series during the fifth episode, which is filmed on island of Guadeloupe.
Despite the dream location, the hot and humid climate could be the one thing that could cause him to pack his bags.
Ralf added: "I irritated a lot of the crew on the last series, because I only arrived halfway through.
"I arrive and I’m like, ‘Hey, how great is this? Aren’t we lucky. Aren’t we the luckiest people in the world?’
"It’s hard because it’s hot and it’s long hours and it’s a physically demanding and mentally demanding thing to do. It’s very difficult to convince people that it’s not just the biggest party ever. But, you know, it’s not, it’s hard work."
However, ‘The Royle Family’ star has lost his confidence in his acting ability as he believes he is getting worse as an actor with age.
He added: "When I was younger I was like, ‘I’m brilliant. I can do anything.’
"Now, I’m like, ‘Can I? Oh, was that OK?’ And, the last thing you want is to be racked with this constant self-evaluation."
And with his lack of confidence, Ralf now finds it hard to watch himself on TV.
He continued: "I stopped enjoying watching myself a few years ago. I used to watch everything I was in."
