Ben Hardy doesn’t think Peter killed Lucy

Ben Hardy doesn’t believe his ‘EastEnders’ alter ego can be Lucy Beale’s killer.

The 23-year-old actor insists he has no idea who murdered the Walford beauty – who was played by Hetti Bywater – but can’t see it being his character, her twin brother Peter, because he doesn’t have a "motive".

Speaking on ‘Lorraine’ today (07.05.14), he said: "I don’t know who the killer is. None of the cast know. It’s just four people upstairs, as far as I know!

"I can’t imagine that [Peter] would do that to his sister. I can’t believe that there’s enough motive."

The murder storyline is set to run for months, with the killer’s identity not set to be revealed until February 2015 as part of the show’s 30th anniversary celebrations, but Ben insists fans won’t get bored of the plot.

He said: "We’ll keep you interested with various red herrings."

Meanwhile, the hunky actor finds it "strange" that fans find him attractive and wonders if he only gets female attention because he plays a "nice lad".

He said: "It’s strange because I don’t really think of myself as a heartthrob. It doesn’t seem right!

"Maybe they like Peter because he’s a nice lad."
