Steve Pemberton wants Julie Walters to star in Inside No. 9

Steve Pemberton says Dame Julie Walters is his ideal guest star for ‘Inside No. 9’.
The 52-year-old actor co-writes and stars in the black comedy anthology series with his ‘The League of Gentleman’ co-star Reece Shearsmith and the fifth series is just about to hit screens on BBC Two.
The next run of episodes features appearances from the likes of David Morrissey, Ralf Little and Jenna Coleman, but Steve admits if he could shoot with anyone it would be 69-year-old actress-and-comedian Julie, who is famous for her work with the late Victoria Wood.
Speaking on ‘Lorraine’, he said: "Who wouldn’t want to work with Julie Walters? She’s got the comedy, the drama. We just need to write the right part for her."
The ‘Benidorm’ star admits that he and Reece, 50, enjoy being able to work with so many different actors on their show because they bring a "new energy" to the episodes.
Speaking to host Lorraine Kelly, Steve explained: "Reece and I have to do six episodes back-to-back so by the time episode four comes round we’re on our knees. We’ve got guests such as Jenna Coleman so every week there is a new energy.
"There’s such a breadth of stories in the programme, one week it’s a comedy, another week it’s a horror and then it’s a drama. That variety is such a pleasure for us as actors."
Steve also revealed that he and Reece are "talking about" taking ‘Inside No. 9’ on a theatre tour.
He said: "I think you’d want to see this in a West End theatre on a tour. We are talking about it."
During his interview on the ITV morning show, Steve also confirmed that he will be starring in the third series of ‘Killing Eve’ and he teased that there will be some "big shocks" in store for fans.
He said: "(Killing Eve) is brilliantly written. You have a trio of amazing performers in Jodie (Comer), Sandra (Oh) and Fiona (Shaw). I’m in the next series, which I’m hoping will air in the spring. I can’t tell you any spoilers but they’re a great team and they really made me feel welcome and there are some big shocks."
