Jeremy Edwards would return to Hollyoaks for anniversary

Jeremy Edwards is up for returning to ‘Hollyoaks’ to celebrate the soap’s 25th anniversary.
The 48-year-old actor played Kurt Benson – who was one of writer Phil Redmond’s original characters – from when the Channel 4 series started in 1995 until 1999 and he is up for coming back to the programme to mark the special milestone in 2020, especially if his close friend Will Mellor returns as Kurt’s pal Jambo Bolton for a reunion with Nick Pickard, who has played Tony Hutchinson from the beginning and is still in the show now.
Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz, Jeremy said: "It’s a great show, I’m very proud of it. People still remember me from it and they come up and shake my hand and that’s a really lovely thing to have, I feel very privileged because it could have crashed and burned, a lot of shows do. I’m very lucky that I get the benefit of that. "Who knew that it would be going for 25 years after Will, myself and Nick (Pickard) among others started it.
"It’s blown my mind that Jambo might go back, I need to speak to Will, me and Will are still great mates. I think I’ll go back to ‘Hollyoaks’ if Will is doing it."
Will, 43, previously admitted that he would like a cameo to mark the milestone as a way of saying "thank you" to the ‘Hollyoaks’ family and the viewers who made the programme a success.
Jeremy insists Kurt’s off-screen death in a jet ski accident can easily be written around because his body was never found, or alternatively he can come back to the village as Kurt’s "evil twin brother".
The former ‘Holby City’ star said: "I died off screen and they never found the body so there is a chance he could be resurrected, that would be a dream for Kurt and Jambo to be back together, and Tony.
"I’ve also come up with a brilliant plan to come back as his evil twin brother Burt Kenson. I can start beating people up or start killing them."
Jeremy was speaking as part of his role as an ambassador for SlimFast.
The actor decided to try the SlimFast 3.2.1. Plan to help him shift some pounds after he was cruelly taunted by trolls on social media who noticed his weight gain when he competed on ‘The X Factor: Celebrity’ last year.
Jeremy admits the insults he was sent via Twitter upset him greatly but also gave him "a kick" to do something about it his expanding waistline.
The former ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ contestant – who has lost 16lbs on the SlimFast 3.2.1 Plan – said: "I had put on some weight and I went on ‘The X Factor: Celebrity’ to have fun and to sing and hopefully entertain people, but all people really cared about was that I’d put on weight. People were really mean. I got quite upset and I wrote a tweet saying I was upset and asked if people could leave me alone but that just fed the trolls. That was silly of me but I didn’t know, I hadn’t been trolled before."
"It was horrible but it did give me a kick to do something about it and give me a different approach and that’s where SlimFast came in and played a blinder.
"I had an injury and I couldn’t exercise and that’s how I used to lose weight by exercising, that’s what a lot of guys do they don’t realise you can do a programme that will help you lose weight.
"Now, I’ve lost weight, I feel trim and I don’t get hungry. I just wish I’d known about it before. If I’d done it earlier it would have made my life so much easier. I didn’t quite realise how upset I was about my weight. It’s not nice to be bullied but you know it, you’re aware that you’re carrying extra weight because your clothes don’t fit properly. You might squint in the mirror to try and think, ‘Oh, maybe I look the same.’ But inside you know you don’t and you’re not happy about it."
