Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield toast NTAs success by ‘mixing’ drinks

Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield toasted their National Television Awards success with a boozy night, and blamed their morning hangovers on mixing their drinks last night (28.01.20).
The pair were in buoyant mood on ‘This Morning’ today (29.01.20) after the show scooped its 10th NTA in a row after winning in the Live Magazine category at last night’s ceremony, at London’s The O2, but they admitted downing tequila and other alcohol had been a "rookie error" in hindsight.
Opening the show, Holly blurted out: "Good morning," and then turned to Phillip and said: "Do you want me to be a little bit more quiet?"
He said: "You could be a little quieter.
"Do you know what the problem is? Mixing."
Holly then said: "We made a rookie error … schoolboy … we’re better than that, Phil."
Phil then revealed what booze the pair had consumed last night, saying: "Gin and tonic, then Alice Beer’s tequila, which she had in her bag."
Holly said: "Guys, this is a top tip. Alice Beer had a bag in her bag with pre-salted shot glasses for the tequila that she’d made.
"It was genius. You are my new hero."
And it appears Alice wasn’t the only one who came prepared.
Phil added: "What was in the bottle that John Barrowman was walking around with?"
Holly said: "He had what looked like a water bottle, but that was not water.
"I don’t know why we did it, but I do know why we did it."
Aside from the boozing, the presenting pair – who once stayed up all night following an NTAs success, and presented the show the next day – thanked the fans for voting for the programme.
Phil said: "Thank you so, so much.
"You never know whether anything nice is going to happen and it was an important one because that’s 10 in a row, and we just can’t believe it."
Holly added: "You are amazing, you are the best. And we appreciate it so much."
