Imran Adams ‘salutes’ Hollyoaks fans after ‘inspirational’ episode

Imran Adams has been inundated with messages from people saying how his ‘Hollyoaks’ character has "inspired" them to live their true lives after Mitchell Deveraux came out last night (21.01.20).
The soap star – who is nominated in the Newcomer category at the upcoming National Television Awards – admits he "salutes" anyone who has sent him a note saying they are "proud" to be "gay, straight or otherwise" after Mitchell revealed to his mum Martine Deveraux (Kelle Bryan) that he is gay.
Imran wrote on Twitter: "To everyone messaging about how much this character & storyline has inspired them to live their truth out & proud gay, straight or otherwise… I salute you. (sic)"
Kelle also heaped praise on the soap for covering such an important plot.
She tweeted: "Unfortunately black males have struggled to be accepted in the black community because of their sexuality. #timeforchange thank you to @Hollyoaks and @gsiougas for challenging mindsets and telling bold stories. #pride #TalkTuesday (sic)"
Mitchell came out to Martine on last night’s E4 episode after Jesse Donovan (Luke Jerdy) died.
Imran said: "The whole village is changed after the passing of Jesse, especially Mitchell, who tried his best to save his life. Jesse’s passing acts as a testament that life is not only for living but living your truth.
"Mitchell feels raw, tired and emotional – The death of Jesse births Mitchell’s emancipation to who he truly is in the most emotional heart breaking way that will hopefully inspire our viewers to be true to themselves while they are still alive and live their best lives."
