Martin Kemp wants to take the limelight back from son Roman

Martin Kemp joked the new Spandau Ballet mockumentary will help him out of his son Roman’s shadow.
‘The Kemps: All True’ will see the bassist and his brother Gary open up on their lives outside the popular new wave band as they get grilled by comedian Rhys Thomas alongside special guest stars like Christopher Eccleston and Simon Day, and he suggested he’s now more famous for his boy’s radio and TV success – including a recent stint on ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ – than his own music career.
Martin, 58, told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column: "After being known as Roman Kemp’s dad for a few months, I’m really happy to be getting back in the limelight and being known for being that one from Spandau Ballet who hit someone over the head with an ashtray in ‘EastEnders’, as well as spending some time with my brothers, Gary and Ross."
Meanwhile Gary, 60, joked that the tongue-in-cheek comedy will feature "more probing than usual" as it follows him setting up a vegan meat-substitute called Wonge, and Martin will be looking to unveil a new film franchise.
Hinting at the show’s premise, he teased: "I’m thrilled the BBC is making this probing documentary into the lives of my brother and me.
"Great to be in the delicate yet bloodstained hands of the wonderful Rhys Thomas. Anyone who knows Rhys’s work can expect more probing than usual. Our lawyers await."
The mockumentary comes after Martin made a new year’s resolution to "enjoy" his life by not working too hard.
He said: "I think, this time, it’ll be to enjoy myself more. It’s important not to work too hard. Life’s too short."
