Asan N’Jie lands BBC role following Emmerdale axe

Asan N’Jie has landed his first role since being sacked from ‘Emmerdale’.
The former ‘Mount Pleasant’ star received his marching orders from the ITV soap when he was involved in a heated bust-up with Jamie Lomas at the TV Choice Awards – during which he threatened to "kill" the ‘Hollyoaks’ star – and he has now secured a part in new BBC crime drama ‘Bloodlands’.
Asan – who played Ellis Chapman in ‘Emmerdale’ – confirmed the role on Twitter, writing: "Looking forward to the next project #Bloodlands"
He also shared a picture of the first episode’s script, written by creator Chris Brandon.
As well as Asan, James Nesbitt is also set to star in the show, which is set and filmed in Northern Ireland.
The ‘Cold Feet’ star will play Northern Irish police detective Tom Brannick, who quickly connects a suicide note to an infamous cold case with enormous personal significance.
Line of Duty’s Jed Mercurio will act as exec producer on the drama.
Following Asan’s bust-up with Jamie at the TV Choice Awards in September last year, he was suspended from the soap and apologised for his actions.
He said: "I sincerely apologise to everybody who has been affected especially Jamie Lomas, the whole ‘Emmerdale’ team, our audience, ITV, my family, and the organisers of the TV Choice Awards.
"I am devastated, accept full responsibility for my actions and I am determined to learn from this."
But he was later let go and his role Ellis has been re-cast, with Aaron Anthony taking on the part.
