Death in Paradise bosses won’t rule out Kris Marshall return

‘Death in Paradise’ bosses are open to a Kris Marshall cameo – but nothing has been discussed.
The 46-year-old actor played DI Humphrey Goodman on the BBC One crime drama for four years until his exit in 2017, and while executive producer Tim Key didn’t rule out a return, he insisted there are no plans in place at the moment.
Asked whether there have been talks about a comeback, he told Digital Spy: "No, we’ve not. You know, I see him from time to time anyway.
"He’s like everyone – you know, he had a great time on the show. And if we had the right story, I’m sure he’d come back. It could happen. Kris is great.
"But whether we’re planning it or not, is a different thing. Right now, that’s not on the table. But it could be. Who knows?"
Tim’s comments come after Kris admitted he would definitely be up for reprising his role in a future series, if the opportunity came up.
Speaking last summer, he said: "Would I do a cameo? Would I go back, and do a cameo in ‘Death in Paradise’? Unequivocally yes."
Kris was replaced by Ardal O’Hanlon, who is also now leaving to explore other projects and spend more time with his family, with Ralf Little joining the cast.
Like his predecessor, the 54-year-old star admitted there is always a slight chance he could reprise his role as DI Jack Mooney, although he would prefer to do so without having to be on location.
He recently said: "Maybe the island will come to me.
"I might retire to the Outer Hebrides or somewhere and start crime-busting there, and maybe the team will reunite.
"You never know, I mean you never say never in this business anyway. Full stop."
