X Factor’s Sam Lavery lands role in horror film

Sam Lavery has joined the cast of independent horror ‘Valentine’s Eve’.
The 20-year-old singer – who reached the final seven of ‘The X Factor’ in 2016 and performed on every night of the live arena tour the following year – has been confirmed for a cameo role in filmmaker Dean Midas Maynard’s upcoming short.
In a statement, he said: "I am over the moon that Sam Lavery has agreed to do a cameo in the film, I can’t thank her team enough.
Dean – who won best horror short prizes at the Bram Stoker Festival, Portobello Festival and Stoke Your Fires for 2014’s ‘The Legend of the Chained Oak’ – has penned the script for his latest project, and will also serve as producer.
Responding to the news, Sam tweeted a black heart emoji and wrote: "Very excited to be apart of this! (sic)"
The star – who was treading the boards across the UK last year as part of the ‘American Idiot’ musical – has moved on from TV talent shows, but still comments on social media.
She recently admitted she was wasn’t entirely sure what to make of BBC’s new programme ‘The Masked Singer’, sees celebrities perform in costumes to conceal their identities from a panel of judges, consisting of Davina McCall, Jonathan Ross, Rita Ora, and Ken Jeong.
Tweeting after the first episode aired over the weekend, she posted a confused emoji and wrote: "Not sure how I feel about the #MaskedSinger to be honestttt (sic)"
However, she had high praise for ITV’s ‘Dancing On Ice’, adding: "Dancing on Ice!!!!!!!!! YES YES YES! Absolutely incredible! #DancingOnIce BE WHO YOU WANT TO BE!!! (sic)"
