Peter Kay teases Phoenix Nights film during rare public appearance

Peter Kay is looking to make a ‘Phoenix Nights’ film.
The 46-year-old comedian – who is currently on an extended break from the spotlight – made a rare appearance on screen at a charity event marking the 19th anniversary of the beloved sitcom’s launch, and he teased some big plans despite playing down suggestions of a fourth series.
As reported by The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: "People always ask, ‘Will there be more Phoenix Nights?’ and I can now confirm there won’t — but I am thinking of a film."
He also opened up about the show’s creation, and admitted he went undercover to make his writing as authentic as possible.
He added: "We did a lot of research. We went around a lot of clubs in Bolton. I had this pen. It was a big Biro that had a microphone.
"Very convincing – you put it in your top pocket, the cable ran under my shirt and I had a dictaphone in the inside pocket of my jacket. It was June or July so we were roasting, sat in clubs.
"Every 45 minutes I’d say, ‘I’m going for a slash’, turn the tape over and come back. In one place, someone asked for a pen and I was terrified they’d drag me over a desk with this cable."
Peter’s comments come after the star – who wrote the show and played stingy club boss Brian Potter – was recently spotted with friends Bobby Ball and Tommy Cannon at the ‘Peter Pan’ pantomime in Crere on December 29.
It was the first time he has been seen since April, after he took a step back from public life and cancelled his 2017 tour due to "unforeseen family circumstances".
