Katie McGlynn pulls out of panto

Katie McGlynn has had to pull out of her panto stint due to a mystery illness.
The former ‘Coronation Street’ star has been playing Tinkerbell in ‘Peter Pan’, alongside ex-‘EastEnders’ actor John Altman (Nick Cotton), at Northwich Memorial Court, but she hasn’t been able to take on the role in the production’s final week.
She wrote on Twitter: "Absolutely gutted but on doctors advice I’ve had to take the final week out of panto as I’m unwell… I’ve loved my time as Tinkerbell in Peter Pan @ABPtheatreshows
"I’m so sorry to everyone who has booked tickets..but you’ll still have a fab time with the rest of Peter Panto x (sic)"
A post on the Northwich Panto’s Facebook account confirmed an understudy would be used for the final four shows.
It read: "Katie Mcglynn took poorly shortly before the evening performance on 28th December. She is still recuperating and the doctors advice is for her to continue to rest. As such she will not be returning for the final performances and the role of Tinker Bell will be played by an understudy for the last 4 shows.
"We understand how disappointing this will be for those of you who have booked to see Katie and she is devastated that she is not well enough to return. However we hope you will join us in wishing Katie well and all the best for 2020. We look forward to working with her again in the future.
"Everybody who is still to join us in Neverland can expect a fantastic show, that has been receiving rave reviews and upholds our high standard of production values. (sic)"
Katie recently admitted she "felt a bit lost" on ‘Coronation Street’ when she played Sinead Osbourne, because the character didn’t initially live up to her expectations.
She said: "I’d just turned 24 and was on this big show, but I wasn’t doing much.
"I felt a bit lost. I’d come from a lot of drama at my previous job on ‘Waterloo Road’, where I was getting big, challenging storylines left, right and centre. I went to ‘Corrie’ and I pinched myself that I was there, but the character took a while to develop to make her the quirky girl she became."
But actress was eventually given an emotional storyline which saw Sinead diagnosed with cervical cancer, and then lose her battle.
She added: "I didn’t feel Sinead was reaching her full potential, and unless something really bad happened to her I didn’t think there was anywhere for her to go. She was too sweet, her life was very normal and I wasn’t sure about what to do."
