Jennifer Metcalfe: Daye helps me switch off from emotional scenes

Jennifer Metcalfe admits her son has made it a lot easier for her to switch off from emotional ‘Hollyoaks’ scenes.
The 36-year-old star admits she used to like to have a glass of wine when she got home after a tough day on set at times in the past, but since giving birth to her two-year-old boy Daye she has found it a lot easier not to take her work home with her because she is "buzzing with life" when she sees the youngster.
She exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "I don’t find it hard to switch off from emotional storylines now I have my little boy.
"Sometimes before it could be a bit heavy and I’d be like, ‘Oh God, I need a glass of wine.’
"I don’t now. I just need to pick him up from nursery and I’m buzzing with life.
"So yeah, he helps."
Jennifer – who plays Mercedes McQueen on the Channel 4 soap – is grateful for the nursery on the show’s site, but wouldn’t mind there being a drop-in creche either.
She added: "There is a nursery on site which is a dream for me, because I recently moved to Manchester.
"So he comes in and out of work with me.
"There isn’t a drop-in creche. That would be good on a Saturday for a few hours.
"But when I’m not in work I always want to be with him. I’m addicted to the little thing."
Jennifer’s ‘Oaks’ co-star Sarah Jayne Dunn (Mandy Morgan) recently admitted she parties at awards ceremonies more than she used to since becoming a mum and a wife.
The star married personal trainer Jon Smith, with whom she has three-year-old son Stanley, in May 2018, and previously admitted since then she has made the most of her nights out at glitzy awards bashes, but cannot go too crazy because she gets "double hangovers" nowadays.
Speaking in November 2018, she said: "I think I do more partying now than I used to because I actually get a night off. Being a mum and being a wife now, so I probably do more partying than I used to.
"I get double hangovers now though."
