EastEnders bosses tease storylines in 2020

Chantelle and Gray Atkins’ domestic abuse storyline will be one of the biggest ‘EastEnders’ plots in 2020, according to executive producer Jon Sen.
As the show nears its 35th anniversary, Jon and BBC’s Head of Continuing Drama Kate Oates have teased what fans can expect in 2020, revealing that the Atkins’ plot and Whitney and Leo’s ongoing story will be central to the soap over the next 12 months.
He told Digital Spy: "Coming up, we have the next chapter of the Chantelle and Gray story, and Chantelle’s growing awareness of her situation, and questioning whether Gray will ever change.
"We have a stranger returning to the Slaters as their guardian angel, and we have the next chapter of the Whitney/Leo story, because Whitney felt that Leo was done and dusted but – as we will discover – that ain’t so.
"And we have the little matter of the 35th anniversary, of which I can say nothing."
Meanwhile, Kate also teased some of the other stories to look out for in 2020.
She said: "We’ll be testing Tiff and Keegan’s relationship. We’ve got a big story for them coming up so that’s exciting too.
"The next chapter of the Ballum story as well, so I think we’re really rich in story at the moment, we’re really excited. We’ve had some great meetings, and people are coming away buzzing about what’s to come."
