Brendan O’Carroll tips Queen’s speech to top Christmas TV ratings

Brendan O’Carroll has tipped ‘The Queen’s Christmas Message’ to top the TV ratings on Christmas Day.
The ‘Mrs. Brown’s Boys’ star, writer and creator has predicted the return of fellow BBC comedy ‘Gavin and Stacey’ will attract a "really huge audience" on Wednesday (25.12.19), but he believes the monarch’s message will be the most-watched programme of the day this year.
He said: "I think there is a very good chance ‘Gavin and Stacey’ will put on a really huge audience.
"But I think this year it’s going to be the Queen’s speech.
"I think it’s going to be the most important queen’s speech ever.
"Agnes feels sorry for her, she knows exactly what she’s going through.
"It’s the three Cs. You can’t cure it, you can’t control it, and you can’t the other C."
‘Mrs. Brown’s Boys’ will return for Christmas and new year specials this year, and Brendan’s wife Jennifer Gibney – who plays Agnes’ daughter Cathy Brown in the show – admitted she couldn’t sit next to her husband when reading his draft script because she felt "under pressure".
She said: "I have to ask him to stop sitting beside me when I am reading it because I’m under pressure.
"He would go, ‘It’s five minutes and you haven’t laughed yet,’ and I’d say, ‘Because you’re looking at me. Go away, and I’ll tell you if I don’t like it.’ "
In November, Brendan admitted he was one month away from a heart attack because one of his arteries was "99 per cent blocked".
The star has admitted that when he found out after the operation he was shocked, and he has now said he only went to see a medical professional because he was having issues with his legs.
Speaking on ‘Lorraine’ today (23.12.19), he added: "I said, ‘What about my legs?’ And he said, ‘I don’t do legs.’ "
