Lewis Capaldi and Mabel lead Top of the Pops festive specials

Lewis Capaldi and Mabel will perform on the ‘Top of the Pops’ Christmas and new year specials.
The ‘Someone You Loved’ hitmaker and the ‘Don’t Call Me Up’ singer have been confirmed for both of the one-hour episodes – set for December 25th and 30th – and they will be part of a star-studded lineup in front of a live audience at BBC’s Elstree Studios.
Mabel said: "So excited to be performing on ‘TOTP’ for the third year in a row.
"Such an honour to be part of such an iconic show."
The superstars will be joined on both special shows by Tom Walker, Dermot Kennedy, Freya Ridings and Jack Savoretti, while the latter will be joined by Sigma on the new year special.
For the Christmas edition, the bill is completed by AJ Tracey, Jorja Smith, James Blunt, Labrinth, Sigala, Becky Hill, Jax Jones, Ella Henderson, and The Script.
For the December 30th episode, Blossoms will be taking to the studio stage, as well as Celeste, Lily Moore and Dan Caplen, Joel Corry and Hayley May, and Regard and Jay Sean.
Fearne Cotton – who will present the shows with Clara Amfo – said: "I can’t wait to celebrate the biggest and best hits of 2019 alongside Clara this Christmas and new year – it’s a brilliant way to mark the end of an amazing year for music."
Her co-host added: "This year’s ‘TOTP’ festive specials are gonna be sweet ones.
"2019 has been a wonderful year for pop music and I can’t wait to celebrate that with Fearne, the artists and most importantly the audiences at home."
‘Tops of the Pops Christmas Special’ airs on December 25th at 11.35am, with the new year edition following on December 30th at 4.45pm, both on BBC One.
