Doctor Who villains the Cybermen will return for new series

Classic ‘Doctor Who’ villains the Cybermen will return for the new series.
Jodie Whittaker is set to step into the TARDIS for her second season as the titular Time Lord in early 2020, and showrunner Chris Chibnall has said he has plans for her to face one of the longrunning BBC sci-fi’s most formidable foes.
Speaking to Radio Times, Chris said: "I really wanted to see Jodie against the Cybermen. There are certain monsters you want to see a Doctor go up against. She met a Dalek in Resolution last New Year.
"Cybermen feel like an important part of the rogues’ gallery and we’ve done something slightly different with them this year – there was a particular story I wanted to tell. They’re just relentless, the Cybermen. They just don’t stop."
In the latest trailer for the upcoming series of ‘Doctor Who’, a glimpse of a Cyberman can be seen looking in pretty bad shape, as it is rusted and battered from previous battles.
Although nothing has been confirmed, the rusted metal could be the "slightly different" take Chris has hinted at.
Meanwhile, Chris recently insisted season 12 is more ambitious than season 11, while star Jodie Whittaker admitted she is more in the iconic role comfortable this year.
Chris said: "It feels like a step up. It’s probably more ambitious than last year. Scale, storytelling, everything. I would say we are aiming to keep moving forward and up. There are bigger moments this year."
Jodie added: "It doesn’t feel like we’re regurgitating anything that we’ve done before. I feel like we’re treading new ground for each of the character journeys, and the development of everybody’s storylines.
"I felt more comfortable, because playing it during my second season is obviously less nerve-wracking than day one of season one. Now, it’s second skin already."
Season 12 of ‘Doctor Who’ is believed to begin airing with a "huge" episode on New Year’s Day (01.01.20).
