Sally Dynevor’s emotional Everest climb

Sally Dynevor broke down in tears as she heard her husband and daughter speak during her Mount Everest base camp climb.
The ‘Coronation Street’ actress has raised more than £100,000 for charity Prevent Breast Cancer – 10 years after she was diagnosed with breast cancer – and she got emotional earlier today (20.11.19) as she heard her family while descending base camp.
Speaking on ‘Lorraine’ via satellite, she said: "I’ve missed my family more than anything. Every time they send me a picture or a message I just burst into tears.
"I’ll be home soon."
Sally’s husband Tim and Hattie, 16, recorded a video message for her, which was played out on the show while she was speaking to host Lorraine Kelly.
He said: "Hi love, we’re so proud of you. What an incredible challenge. We’ve followed you every step of the way and we’re so proud of you.
"We’re missing you, hurry home."
Hattie added: "We’re so proud of you mum. You’re amazing. We can’t wait to see you."
Sally then broke down in tears, and said: "I’m crying again, but thank you so much, Lorraine, for sharing our story.
"You’ve really helped us, thank you so much."
Sally admitted she is "shattered" today after a long walk as part of the descent, and she has found the altitude sickness "like nothing [she’s] experienced before".
She added: "It’s been the most incredible experience and so emotional at times.
"The altitude sickness is like nothing I’ve experienced before.
"I really wish I could turn the phone around and show you what I can see. It’s extraordinary and I’m just so proud of the whole team."
Before heading on her climb, Sally admitted she wasn’t sure how she would cope with the freezing temperatures, which can sink as low as -30C.
She said: "Apparently we sleep in tea houses, little buildings with no heating. I suppose it’s better than a tent, but it’s still very cold.
"I’ve heard we might have to keep our water bottles in our sleeping bags to stop them icing up. If I’m filming and it’s cold I find it hard, let alone Nepal!"
