Rylan Clark-Neal to host election night coverage

Rylan Clark-Neal is to host Channel 4’s election night coverage.
The ‘Supermarket Sweep’ presenter will help to take the helm for the channel’s Alternative Election Night coverage alongside Channel 4 News anchor Krishnan Guru-Murphy, comedian Katherine Ryan and presenter Clare Balding.
Taking to Twitter to share the news, he wrote: "So yeah … This X factor reject will be hosting election night. Lols … Bring on round 2 #GeneralElection2019 … I’ll see you on election night (can’t be that different from an eviction night surely…..) (sic)"
Joining them for the coverage will be experts in the field including former MPs Tom Watson and Amber Rudd, who will provide more political commentary.
Channel 4 News and Current Affairs commissioning editor, Louisa Compton, said: "The Alternative Election will be distinctive, fresh and very entertaining, offering up the perfect mix of two political heavyweights who’ve just walked out of front-line politics as well some great comedians and entertainers. Voters will be at the heart of the programme with audience reaction to all the key moments."
Whilst Expectation’s comedy entertainment creative director Wicks promised it would be a "truly unique live journalistic-comedic extravaganza".
He added: "The Alternative Election Night will put our sharpest comics, most talented entertainers and most forensic journalists into contact with the winners, losers and also rans on this most historic of election nights."
Whilst ITNP director of TV production, Ian Rumsey, shared: "We’re delighted to be helping Channel 4 bring a unique take to the most unpredictable election we’ve ever known. In many people’s opinions, politics and comedy have never been closer together."
