Jake Wood teases big plans for EastEnders anniversary

Jake Wood says ‘EastEnders’ bosses have some "amazing" storylines lined up for the soap’s 35th anniversary next year.
The 47-year-old actor – who has played Max Branning on the BBC show since 2006 – has opened up about the show’s plans, with bosses already thinking about how to mark the huge milestone in February 2020.
He told Digital Spy: "We’ve obviously got Christmas coming up – and the 35th anniversary early next year.
"I think the fans will be delighted by that. It’ll be some of the best stuff that we’ll ever get a chance to shoot.
"I’ve seen some of the scripts coming up and they’re amazing. The show is in a very strong place at the moment and I’m really proud to be part of it."
While Jake remained tight-lipped over what exactly those plots will be, he admitted "everyone knows" on set, as they’re all focused on making the upcoming scenes the best they can possibly be.
He said: "I think everyone knows what the plans are, by and large. Everyone is very excited. They’re going to be some of the most spectacular scenes that I’ve been involved in during my time there.
"I think we’re in a strong position at the moment. I think it’s going to be an amazing year ahead.
"The show is going from strength to strength and I’m excited for the fans to see what we’ve got coming up."
His comments come after Jake previously heaped praise on senior executive producer Kate Oates, and the impact she’s had since joining the team.
He recently told BANG Showbiz: "Since Kate Oates has been there and [Jon Sen] … it’s a really strong team at the moment.
"We have got a great set of actors, production is great, writing is great, it’s in a really good place.
"It’s very strong."
