Oti Mabuse scared by Strictly Come Dancing lift

Oti Mabuse "feared for [her] life" when Kelvin Fletcher tried a tricky lift during ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ rehearsals.
The professional dancer loves seeing how much the actor progresses when they learn their routines each week but she’s had to rein him in and simplify one of their moves when they pushed things too far.
Asked on ‘It Takes Two’ by host Zoe Ball if she was in "fear of [her] life" when they lift went wrong, Oti said: "I was! Every week Kelvin starts slow, but then he progresses incredibly.
"So when we were doing it, we thought ‘let’s both have our hands up’. On Wednesday, he gets faster and I almost fly across the room.
"I was like, ‘Oh my god, don’t let me go!’
"I love he’s so passionate and just wants to improve, but that was scary."
Oti admitted all the couples are trying to push their routines further and further, with the show’s final just two weeks away, but she thinks she went too far with her own choreography.
She added: "At this point in the competition we’re all trying to push each other.
"When you get lifts, you want to make them scary and impossible. But after I thought, ‘What was I thinking?"
It seems rehearsals don’t always go smoothly for the pair as earlier this month, the former ‘Emmerdale’ star admitted the spins in the Viennese Waltz has caused him to suffer motion sickness.
He said: "I was sick for the first time on Monday. That has always been my biggest fear with anything ballroom. With the waltz, especially the Viennese Waltz , it looks so beautiful and effortless and flows.
"But the spins, they look so stunning but I fear them because the minute I start spinning my head goes and on Monday I was in the toilet and it wasn’t pretty."
