Jessica Fox impressed by ambition on Hollyoaks

‘Hollyoaks’ star Jessica Fox is excited for the show’s "incredibly ambitious" flash forward storyline.
The 36-year-old actress – who has played Nancy Osborne on the Channel 4 soap since 2005 – is looking forward to seeing how bosses handle the upcoming New Year’s Eve (31.12.19) episode, which is set to give viewers a glimpse 12 months into the future.
Speaking to Digital Spy, Jessica said: "I’m super excited about the flashforward episode. I think it’s incredibly ambitious – not only to flashforward 12 months into the future, but also to do a storyline that involves almost the entire cast over the course of the year.
"It’s a huge undertaking. I imagine they’re up in the story office with characters on pieces of string, trying to figure out how it’s all going to come together! I’m excited for that."
The episode will feature three different parties, along with a big revelation of a disaster the following year, as the soap kicks off its County Lines drug dealing storyline focused on the real life issue of gangs from big cities exploiting young people and vulnerable adults from smaller towns and villages.
Discussing the story and the involvement of her on-screen nephew Charlie Dean – played by Charlie Behan – she added: "I’m excited that we’re giving Charlie his first proper story. I think that’s a long time coming and really well-deserved. I can’t wait to see him do it."
The scenes are set to be very intense with such a frightening issue at the centre of the long plot, and Jessica – who pointed out the great job the research team have done – explained how "utterly terrifying" it is.
She said: "This can happen to children of all different backgrounds and they’re so young. You can perhaps get your head around older teenagers dealing drugs, although obviously you don’t want it to be happening.
"But this issue affects small children, where you can’t even understand them getting on a bus on their own, never mind transporting drugs. It’s utterly terrifying."
