David Walliams to make Chitty Chitty Bang Bang car for documentary

David Walliams is enlisting the help of a class of school children in his mission to build a ‘Chitty Chitty Bang Bang’ car to mark the movie’s 50th anniversary.
The 48-year-old star is fronting upcoming Channel 4 documentary ‘Chitty Flies Again’, which will focus on James Bond creator Ian Fleming’s beloved 1964 children’s story and the film that was inspired by it.
Walliams has set himself the challenge of creating the flying magical motor and will work with aircraft engineer Tony Hoskins and a class of eight-year-old schoolchildren in a bid to bring the car to life in the programme which will air during the Christmas period.
Rory Wheeler, Rare TV’s Creative Director, said: "This is Specialist Factual Entertainment on a grand scale. Ambitious, joyous and with a fantastically talented presenter at its heart. It’s Christmas TV at its most entertaining"
Jonah Weston, Channel 4 commissioning editor, added: "David Walliams, cute kids, the child catcher, not to mention the world’s most-famous car. This is the perfect winter TV treat for Chitty fans, young and young-at-heart."
‘Britain’s Got Talent’ judge David is a life-long fan of the classic 1968 movie, and he is set to unpack each ingredient, from the iconic car itself to the fearsome child catcher and everything in between.
The hugely popular children’s author will also delve into the history of the film, from it’s inception by author Fleming to the big screen adaptation from literary legend Roald Dahl.
Viewers will be treated to heaps of unseen material taking everyone behind the scenes, while David will be meeting original cast and crew members, super-fans and real-life inventors inspired by Caractacus Potts himself.
