One Direction flee hotel

One Direction were forced to switch hotels in Peru because of "screaming" fans.

Police urged the group – comprising Liam Payne, Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson – not to return to their rooms at the Palacio Nazarenas in Cusco after a sightseeing trip to the ancient Machu Picchu ruins after officers struggled to stop excited girls from storming the building.

Around 250 fans had filled the tiny square outside the hotel, where rooms cost £350-a-night, and over 25 police officers attempted to disperse them, but eventually decided it would be best for the ‘Little Things’ hitmakers – who are on the South American leg of their ‘Where We Are’ world tour – to relocate.

A source told The Sun newspaper: "There were hundreds of screaming girls outside the hotel.

"Police were struggling to keep them back and keep them off the road.

"The fans with their posters nearly filled the entire square."

Following a night in a different hotel, the band flew out of Peru by private jet on Tuesday (29.04.14) to Santiago, Chile, for their next gig.

Last week, it was revealed over 6,000 police had been assigned to protect the quintet in Colombia to keep them safe from gun violence and kidnapping threats.

A source said: "No risks are being taken. The dangers in some of these countries are very real and that’s why management have arranged the world’s best security teams.

"There will be no wandering into the city for partying or sightseeing anywhere deemed dangerous – and Colombia is definitely dangerous."

The ‘Story of My Life’ group were escorted to and from El Campin stadium by police with a convoy of security vehicles and a team of more than 200 guards at the stadium.
