Phoebe Waller-Bridge reveals Andrew Scott’s Fleabag influence

Phoebe Waller-Bridge says Andrew Scott inspired the ‘Fleabag’ Quaker meeting scene.
The 34-year-old creator and star of the hugely popular comedy has opened up on how the actor – who played her beloved Priest on the show – helped influence the moment the title character wonders aloud at a silent meeting whether she wouldn’t be such a feminist if she "had bigger t**ts".
Writing in ‘Fleabag: The Scriptures’, Phoebe recalled the time they met to discuss the possibility of Andrew joining the cast, and said: "[Scott] turned to me: ‘I want to show you something.’
"He walked me down Haymarket and we turned into a small door that boasted a sign: Quaker meeting. There was no-one there, just a few signs to remind you not to talk in the meeting room…
"We walked into the room, sat there alone, the two of us, breaking their only rule for another hour.
"When we eventually left, he turned to me: ‘Let’s do it.’ We filmed the Quaker scene in the same place we’d met that day. Andrew brought more to this character than can be summed up in words."
Meanwhile, Phoebe previously teased the possibility of a third series of the BBC show in 16 years time, because she finds it "exciting" to think about what the titular character would’ve been up to.
She recently admitted: "I quite like the idea of coming back to her, well, me, when I’m 50. ‘Cause I feel like she would’ve had more life then, and God knows what she would have got up to.
"And actually, seeing a character like that in her later stage of life, I think, is exciting. But I think for now, she’s been through enough. We got to let her go."
