Sally Dynevor is yet to get over having breast cancer

Sally Dynevor admits she is yet to get over having breast cancer.
The ‘Coronation Street’ actress – who was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2009 after going for a check-up because her character, Sally Metcalfe, had been diagnosed on the ITV soap – is set to climb Mount Everest to mark the tenth anniversary of her own diagnosis.
In an interview with OK! magazine, she said: "I still haven’t come to terms with having breast cancer. I just can’t believe it happened to me. It’s mainly the fear.
"I’ve locked it away and shoved it to the back of my mind, probably for self-preservation. But I’m going to walk up those mountains getting rid of all those boxed up feelings as I go."
‘Corrie’ recently aired a storyline where Sinead Tinker (Katie McGlynn) died after battling cervical cancer, and Sally admits that she couldn’t watch the final scenes because it brought back bad memories.
When asked if she feared cancer returning, she responded: "You don’t ever stop thinking about it. That’s why I couldn’t watch Sinead Tinker’s final scenes on ‘Corrie’. It brought back all those emotions. I could feel what she was feeling."
Sally also revealed that she still struggles to talk about her cancer battle.
She added: "Yes, ten years on I still find it hard to talk about it. I try to forget I had breast cancer. After I’d initially spoken about it I began pushing it away. You want to live as you and not be labelled as a cancer patient.
"But more recently I’ve realised I do need to talk about my experience because it helps raise awareness and lets others know they’re not alone."
