Amar Adatia wouldn’t turn down Marvel offer if chance came around

Amar Adatia wouldn’t turn down a Marvel Cinematic Universe movie, as he admits "money talks".
The ‘EastEnders’ actor is a proud independent filmmaker – having released his ninth project ‘The Seven’ at the end of last month – and while he loves the freedom, he knows the opportunity to lead a big screen blockbuster would be too good to turn down.
He exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "You’re in total control of everything you, everything on screen – we have the final say.
"Whereas if you’re working on something else, say if I was working for Sony or Marvel, I wouldn’t have that creative control. And once you’ve had it, and you’re the boss, you don’t want to give it away.
"But obviously in this industry, money talks. If Marvel did come to me, I’m not gonna say no! Life is money, work is money – that’s what it comes down to."
The multi-talented star admitted he throws himself completely into his work, and while working on projects like his new independent horror comedy takes a lot of effort, he knows it’s all worth it.
He added: "When we’re working on it we’re living, breathing, it’s all we’re doing – you can’t escape from it. You don’t think about anything else.
"You have early mornings, late nights. I’m the producer so I’ve got to be the first one on set, last one to leave, and make sure location’s OK, catering’s on time.
"On top of that, if I’m acting in it I’ve got to make sure I’m acting and on point there as well. It’s brilliant, I enjoy it so, so much."
It’s a different world for his new soap role, and Amar – who recently joined ‘EastEnders’ as Jags Penesar – explained how playing a character so similar to himself makes for a much more relaxing experience.
He said: "When you get ‘EastEnders’, your character is you – pretty much, very close to you. I feel like that is definitely true for a lot of the people on set, they’re very close to their characters.
"I feel like that’s why we’re chosen, so for me I quite like playing myself. It’s nice because I don’t have to think too much about it, I can concentrate on actually performing, making it look good.
"My life has become a lot easier since ‘EastEnders’ because I’m not stressing constantly about ‘What’s the next move, what distributor’s going to take this’. But it’s fine!"
