Paul O’Grady to pilot new Saturday night show

Paul O’Grady is set to pilot a new Saturday night show.
The ‘Paul O’Grady: For the Love of Dogs’ presenter is working on his own comedy entertainment show, ‘Paul O’Grady’s Saturday Night Line-Up’, which see celebrity guests tackle "intriguing questions" and "dilemmas".
The producers explained: "Paul O’Grady’s ‘Saturday Night Line-Up’ is a pilot for a brand new comedy entertainment show in which Paul’s fantastic line-up of celebrity guests are presented with a number of intriguing questions, scenarios and dilemmas."
The pilot will be filmed in front of an audience later this month and will give members of the public the chance to interact with famous faces.
They continued: "If you’re lucky enough to be in the audience for this show, you may have an opportunity to pose a question to the guests!"
It will be the first time that Paul has fronted a comedy show in a number of years.
The 64-year-old Liverpudlian launched his career as drag act Lily Savage in the 1980s, appearing on ‘Blankety Blank’ as the alter ego, before going on to host shows such as ‘Paul O Grady’s Little Heroes’ and the Channel 5 revival of ‘Blind Date’.
It’s unlikely he’ll return to the the the latter show because he felt "uncomfortable" mimicking original presenter and close late friend Cilla Black.
He said: "I don’t think I am going to do any more. I will have to have a word with Channel 5."
Paul felt very reluctant stepping into Cilla’s shoes.
He admitted: "I said, ‘I cannot do that’. For the first series, I hated the set and felt really uncomfortable. I was saying ‘what is your name number one, where do you come from?’ and my arms would go out and knee bend, and I kept thinking I am turning into Cilla."
