Christine McGuinness ‘worries’ about Paddy McGuinness on Top Gear

Paddy McGuinness’ wife "worries about him" having a crash on ‘Top Gear’.
Christine McGuinness was championing her significant other – with whom she shares three kids, six-year-old twins Leo and Penelope, and three-year-old Felicity – landing a presenting job on the BBC motoring programme, but when he got the part she grew concerned he might injure himself.
She told BANG Showbiz: "I do worry about him, and I think that was my biggest concern when he got the job.
"I was so excited for it as he was in the running for it for a while and I thought, ‘I really hope he gets it,’ but when he actually got it my first thought was, ‘Oh my God, I really hope he’s sensible.’
"Because, obviously, I want him to be careful. I try and tell him not to go too fast and I hope he’s sensible, but it’s fine.
"When I watch it, I never watched it before and now I love it. Some of the places they go to is incredible and he’s seeing the world doing a job that he loves. But I do watch it thinking, ‘Oh my God.’ "
But Christine, 31, admits Paddy, 46, is a "pretty good" driver, and has been "living his best life" on ‘Top Gear’.
She said: "He’s pretty good. When we’ve got the kids with us he’s very sensible, but when he’s on the show he goes back to being a boy in a car.
"He loves it. It’s his dream job driving these cars and working with friends. He is living his best life."
Christine and Paddy – whose twins have autism – are still hoping to make a documentary about the developmental disorder to "help other people".
Speaking at the Best Heroes Awards, she added: "We still really want to do a documentary.
"It’s something we’ve been talking about for a while based around autism with our experiences as parents of autistic children.
"We just think we could really help other people. People don’t realise unless you are in it and I would like to learn more and go visit other families and see what therapies are around and some people medicate their kids and there is all different stuff. We don’t.
"I would like to explore myself what is out there. It’s just timing. He’s so busy and that’s something we would want to give our all too so hopefully next year."
