Corrie’s Katie McGlynn admits parents can’t watch Sinead Tinker’s death

Katie McGlynn admits her parents can’t watch her ‘Coronation Street’ character’s death.
The 26-year-old soap star’s alter ego Sinead Tinker will lose her battle with cervical cancer next week, and she admitted while her mum Ruth has found it difficult to tune in during the emotionally intense storyline, her dad Trevor has "already" decided he won’t be watching her final moments.
She’s quoted by the Daily Mirror newspaper as saying: "My mum’s been really struggling watching it and my dad’ already said that he’s definitely not going to watch it."
Katie – who insisted ‘Corrie’ is doing the right thing by making sure the story doesn’t have a forced "happy ending" – admitted shooting her final scenes was incredibly overwhelming and it wa tough getting through her last lines.
She added: "I couldn’t say those last few words. I burst into tears. I was so wrapped in the story, the writing was beautiful."
Meanwhile, Katie previously admitted although the hard-hitting plot has taken its toll on her off-set, she is "incredibly proud" there has been a rise in cervical cancer screenings and smear tests since she started shooting the storyline, and is glad Sinead will also be mentioned on the soap for years to come because of her son Bertie.
She added: "I think anybody who tries to tackle a storyline like that, if you don’t get affected by it at all there’s something wrong with them.
"But it’s worth it because I’ve had so many messages and there’s been research that shows there’s been a rise in cervical cancer screenings now and smear tests.
"So we are doing something, so I’m just very proud.
"I’m incredibly proud to have been part of it. And Sinead is always going to be mentioned because of little Bertie."
