Coronation Street crew helping stars deal with ‘brutal’ trolls

‘Coronation Street’ star Kerri Quinn has been amazed at how "heartless" some trolls can be, which has led to several cobbles stars quitting Twitter.
Kym Marsh (Michelle Connor), Helen Flanagan (Rosie Webster) and the late Anne Kirkbride (Deirdre Barlow) all left the social media site after being abused, and Kerri – who plays Vicky Jefferies on the ITV soap – has been left shocked by some of the social slagging she’s received.
She said: "People can be brutal and it feels like when they get something in their head they just run with it.
"I’ve honestly been amazed at how heartless some people can be. Some of the social media things people say are awful."
But she admitted ‘Corrie’ bosses are "really on it" in terms of warning new stars about the dangers of social media, and give plenty of support.
She said: "It’s like they think they can write anything about you no matter how hurtful and brutal.
"You’re prepped for this stuff now. They’re really on it.
"There’s a lot of support. The crew are amazing."
A Corrie spokesman told the Daily Star newspaper: "Cast can ask for assistance or extra advice at any time."
Kym previously slammed "sick" trolls after they targeted her daughter Emilie Cunliffe following her audition on BBC singing competition ‘The Voice’.
She wrote: "The bullies make me sick.
"Say what you like about me I really don’t care but a 16yr old??? Really? Sick. (sic)"
Kym’s then-‘Corrie’ co-star Catherine Tyldesley (Eva Price) also came to the teen’s defence, writing: "Pure jealousy. They live in deep negativity. (sic)"
