Jodie Whittaker awarded honorary doctorate

Jodie Whittaker has been awarded an honorary doctorate.
The ‘Doctor Who’ star has been recognised by Sheffield Hallam University alongside the cast and crew involved in the opening episode of series 11 – ‘The Woman Who Fell To Earth’ – which was filmed around the city and kick-started the actress’ first run as the iconic Time Lord, and showrunner Chris Chibnall is delighted.
He said: "The cast and crew of Doctor Who Series 11 are thrilled to be honoured by Sheffield Hallam University this way.
"From the moment we made the decision for the Doctor to fall out of the sky into the streets and homes of Sheffield in 2018, the residents and the city have treated us brilliantly, on screen and off.
"’Doctor Who’ is a massive team effort so it’s particularly special that this citation is for the whole cast and crew."
Jodie is set to return to the small screen early next year for her second series in the TARDIS, and Chris previously confirmed the Doctor will face off against The Judoon.
The rhino-headed intergalactic police first made an appearance more than 12 years ago to terrorise the Tenth Doctor – played by David Tennant – and his companion Martha Jones (Freema Agyeman) in 2007’s ‘Smith and Jones’.
The show’s boss said in a statement: "No! Sho! Blo! The Judoon are storming back into ‘Doctor Who’ in full force, and the streets of Gloucester aren’t safe. If anyone has anything to hide, confess now.
"The Judoon are taking no prisoners, and will stop at nothing to fulfil their mission! The whole team on ‘Doctor Who’ are delighted and scared in equal measure to welcome them back: one of many treats we’ve got in store for viewers next series."
