Love Island’s Wes Nelson hates X Factor supergroup name

Wes Nelson hates the ‘Love Island’ stars’ band name for ‘The X Factor: Celebrity’.
The reality star is teaming up with Eyal Booker, Samira Mighty and Zara McDermott – who all appeared in the villa in 2018 – for the upcoming revamped version of Simon Cowell’s talent show, but he isn’t happy bosses have decided to call the new group The Islanders.
Speaking to heat magazine, he said: "It’s a touchy subject. I’m not saying The Islanders.
"I’ll look like a f***ing idiot."
However, Eyal tried to be more diplomatic and suggested the moniker isn’t set in stone.
He added: "We’re still undecided. It’s The Islanders for now."
Wes recently admitted the supergroup would love to make it to the live shows and get a chance to prove there’s more to the former ‘Love Island’ stars than appearing on the ITV2 dating show.
He said: "It would be so sick, it would be madness, it would be a dream come true. It would be crazy …
"There’s so much more to us, all of us have that mutual love and passion for singing, and people don’t know that.
"So this is going to be good, to be able to showcase what we really love and care about."
The Islanders will be joined by the likes of Megan McKenna and Ricki Lane for the special series, and boss Simon has revealed he asked to be kept in the dark about the line-up.
He explained: "It just felt so obvious to do a celebrity version. The only condition was I couldn’t know who was going to be on it. I said to the team, ‘You’ve got to find some acts who you believe can sell records off the back of this, because if you don’t do that it won’t work.’
"So that was the deal and we stuck to it. I swear to God I didn’t have a clue who any of the acts were. I did walk away thinking, ‘If we’re smart, we have artists here who could actually sell records off the back of this’. So I thought that was fun and very exciting for the show."
