Katie McGlynn promises ‘drama’ before Coronation Street exit

Katie McGlynn says ‘Coronation Street’ fans "can expect a lot of drama" before Sinead Tinker’s death.
The 26-year-old actress is set to say goodbye to her alter ego in a few weeks’ time after the character was diagnosed with cervical cancer which spread to her lymph nodes and liver, and she has warned viewers that there is more to come.
She told OK! Magazine: "You can expect a lot of drama leading up to it. Everyone assumes that it’s just going to be a peaceful death, and it is but there’s always drama leading up to it.
"I think you do see a lot of strength in her character and that’s what I’m most proud of. She’s stronger than me, she’s stronger than many people that I know and I couldn’t do what she’s done, so I’m very proud of that."
Despite such an emotional exit, Katie still feels like it’s the right time to leave the cobbles.
She explained: "Me and the writers have developed this character for so long and I feel like she’s my friend and I’ve known her for so long. It’s a bittersweet feeling to say goodbye to her.
"I’d just turned 25 and had realised that I’ve been there for five years and if I don’t go now, I’m never going to go and then this storyline was put in front of me and I was like, ‘Yes let’s do it.’ "
Meanwhile, her ‘Corrie’ co-star Rob Mallard – who plays her on-screen partner Daniel Osbourne – recently admitted he’s gutted Sinead is leaving the show.
He said: "Daniel and Sinead have been on and off for two and a half years, so obviously I am very sad to be losing Katie on set.
"We’ve had so many intense scenes and shared so much emotion that we’ve developed a really platonic and sincere bond with one another."
