Shahin Hassan blames project manager after Apprentice exit

Shahin Hassan blamed his project manager after he became the first person to become fired on ‘The Apprentice.’
Shahin received his marching orders from Lord Alan Sugar after his team lost the first task of the series, where they had to organise a bespoke tourist trip in Cape Town, South Africa.
The boys team were beaten after they failed to sell all 16 tickets for their safari tour.
The 36-year-old hopeful and fellow candidate Dean Ahmad were brought back into the boardroom by project manager Lewis Ellis, who accused them of performing poorly in their efforts to sell tickets which ultimately cost the team the task.
But Shahin felt Lewis was to blame for the team’s defeat because he failed to understand and utilise his skill set properly.
Shahin said: "The project manager put me in sales, I’m not a natural salesperson. The project manager made errors."
Although he was disappointed to be the first candidate to be axed from the competition, Shahin accepts he was treated fairly by Lord Sugar.
He said: "I was treated fairly. There was nothing personal, he just had to go on the task."
Lewis was seen losing his temper in the boardroom, which got him a telling off from Lord Sugar. His reaction didn’t come as a shock to Shahin.
He said: "It wasn’t a surprise Lewis lost his temper because he did that during the task. I’m a professional and I know you can’t lose your cool in business so hopefully he learns from that."
Shahin was criticised in the tasks for failing to adapt to a weakness, but this is something he rejects.
He explained: "Of course I’m adaptable, I’ve been in business for years, it’s just the situation I was in and the people I was with."
Although he didn’t win the chartered engineer is very grateful to have earned the opportunity to be part of the BBC One show
He said: "It was a once in a lifetime opportunity. I loved every minute of it."
