Gary Lineker can’t wait to get his free bus pass

Gary Lineker can’t wait to get his free bus pass when he turns 60 next year.
The ‘Match of the Day’ star will be eligible for a free travel pass to use around London when he reaches the milestone age in November 2020, and has said he’s looking forward to being able to take advantage of the "useful" card.
When asked by the Daily Star newspaper how long he will extend his stint as TV’s top football presenter, Gary said: "I’m going to be a pensioner soon. The London travel pass. I get the bus sometimes and the Underground, so that might come in useful."
Gary’s excitement over his free travel card comes as he was recently named the biggest star earner at the BBC for the 2018/19 financial year, making a whopping £1.75 million for his work on ‘Match of the Day’, hosting ‘Sports Personality of the Year’ and the BBC’s coverage of international tournaments like the FIFA World Cup.
But Gary, 58, is currently in talks with the BBC about a new contract and he has told bosses that he is prepared to be paid less in the interest of fairness.
He said: "I love my job at the BBC and I enjoy doing it. I’m currently negotiating a new contract with them and I’m volunteering to take less."
The former England striker’s decision comes in the wake of the furore over the BBC decided to axe free TV licences for over-75s and the high salaries of the broadcaster’s top earners.
Six years ago, Gary – who also hosts BT Sport’s Champions League coverage – agreed to take a pay cut of £500,000 to remain the host of ‘Match of the Day’.
The Spurs legend – who is the face of Walker’s crisps and is believed to have a personal fortune of around £30 million – also spoke about his plans for his sports documentary company Goalhanger Films admitting he’s excited about the future projects the business has planned.
He said: "I’ve never had a business so that’s fun and we’ll be doing more sports documentaries and films."
