Trisha Goddard confirmed for Dancing On Ice

Trisha Goddard signed up for ‘Dancing On Ice’ when she was drunk.
The 61-year-old presenter is the latest name to be confirmed for the 2020 version of the show and she admitted she was inspired to put her name forward for the skating competition after meeting one of the professionals on a night out.
Speaking on ‘Good Morning Britain’, she said: "It’s a very funny story as to why I signed up.
"I was invited to soiree in New York and there was one American guy there, he said ‘I was a pro on Dancing On Ice’ and I wanted to skill up.
"I roller blade, so I’m arranging that with him after a few bevvies, and I take a selfie with him saying ‘I’d do DOI with this guy!’
"The next morning I get a call asking me to do it, the hangover hadn’t even cleared."
The 61-year-old star may be one of the show’s oldest contestants, but she doesn’t think she should be written off because of her age.
She said: "I like physical activity every day. I bike ride, I weight train, I learnt to ski at 37, how to roller blade at 42, and running at 42. And I’m 62 in December."
And Trisha admitted she’s got skating experience.
She said: "I learnt to ice skate when I was a kid. Erm, I can ice skate."
The former talk show host was far more interested in the skating show than signing up for rival ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ because she believes there isn’t enough "freedom" with the ballroom and Latin programme.
She said: "I wouldn’t do ‘Strictly’ because to me the whole thing about dancing is freedom… I don’t happen to like [ballroom dancing]."
Trisha will be competing on the show against the likes of Ian ‘H’ Watkins, magician Ben Hanlin, actor Joe Swash, ‘Love Island’ star Maura Higgins, TV presenter Michael Barrymore, retired Everton footballer Kevin Kilbane, and newsreader Lucrezia Millarini.
Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield will return to host the show but the judging panel has had a shake-up.
The twelfth series of ‘Dancing On Ice’ will see John Barrowman take over as a judge with Jason Gardiner leaving the programme. He joins Jayne Torvill, Christopher Dean and Ashley Banjo on the panel.
‘Dancing On Ice’ returns to ITV in 2020.
