Lisa George confirmed for Dancing on Ice

Lisa George has confirmed she has signed up for ‘Dancing on Ice’ – 40 years after cutting her chin open in an ice-skating accident.
The ‘Coronation Street’ actress used to skate during her younger years, but the accident put paid to her skating career and she hasn’t been on the ice since – until yesterday’s (25.09.19) first training session for the ITV show.
She said: "I did ice skate when I was a child for a couple of years until I was about nine.
"I was in a competition and I fell, I stuck my blades in the ice. The ice shot up like a shard and cut my chin open, and that was the end of my skating career.
"I’m 49 this year so I haven’t been on the ice for around 40 years."
Lisa felt "scared" about returning to the ice, particularly as it was "really glossy", just as it was the day she cut her chin open.
She said: "Yesterday (25.09.19) was my very first session. I really enjoyed it. I didn’t fall. I enjoyed it.
"I was a bit scared, because the ice was really glossy and I thought, ‘Oh, that’s when I fell.’ I had this flashback.
"But I was OK, I didn’t fall over at all."
And the cobbles favourite – who plays Beth Tinker on the ITV soap – admits she got quite emotional after being back on the ice, because it made her think of her nine-year-old self again.
Speaking on ‘Lorraine’, she added: "It’s a huge birthday for me and I can’t believe I’m 50 next year, and I thought, ‘If I don’t do this now I’m never going to have the chance to do it again.
"I’m just doing it for me really. I can’t believe I’m actually going to go back on the ice.
"It’s weird. When I stepped on the ice yesterday I felt like a nine-year-old again.
"I felt really free and I was buzzing and really happy. It was a really weird experience. I got in my car and I was really emotional afterwards."
