Simon Rimmer: Sunday Brunch is ‘fun’ with tipsy guests

Simon Rimmer says ‘Sunday Brunch’ is "fun" to film when the guests have knocked back a few drinks.
The 56-year-old cook, who co-hosts the programme with Tim Lovejoy, says there is no limit to how much alcohol guests are allowed to put away on the brunch-time programme, and he loves to see them "drinking until the end of the show".
He said: "It’s fun when they’ve had a few drinks. There isn’t a limit to how much they can have.
"I quite like it when they have a few drinks and end up holding two glasses and then keep drinking until the end of the show."
Simon admits the air turns blue a fair bit with the guests a bit tiddly and "in a relaxed situation", but one of the biggest compliments he has received is when they forget they are on a TV show.
He is quoted by the Daily Star newspaper as saying: "We all swear far more when we’re in a relaxed situation than when you’re being formal. So we get a lot of that.
"There are times when the guests actually forget that they’re on telly, which is really lovely.
"They forget that they are being broadcast live. I’m quite flattered by that."
But Simon could soon be heading to a show where the stars aren’t allowed any booze – ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’.
The restaurateur recently admitted he would be keen to take part in the Australian jungle-based show after seeing what a friendly atmosphere there was on last year’s series.
He said: "I’d probably do the jungle. I always said I wouldn’t, but think I’ve become quite intrigued by that.
"It’s a slightly different show now too – it’s a really nice warm cuddly show these days."
