Gaynor Faye felt like a Smurf during ‘dramatic’ Corrie death scenes

Gaynor Faye felt like a Smurf when she was killed off on ‘Coronation Street’.
The former soap star played Judy Mallett on the cobbles from 1995 to 1999 and when her alter ego died after suffering a pulmonary embolism whilst hanging out the washing, she thought she looked like one of the small blue cartoon characters.
Commenting on her final ‘Corrie’ scenes, she told ITV’s ‘Loose Women’: "That was very dramatic, that death scene in ‘Coronation Street’.
"I remember leaving the makeup chair and I actually looked blue, I felt like a Smurf. I was like, are you sure?
"I know I’ve been dead an hour because it was the episode afterwards – but actually on screen it doesn’t look that blue. Little tinge of blue, but not too bad."
Meanwhile, the 47-year-old actress has now left her second major soap role after calling time on her tenure as Megan Macey on ‘Emmerdale’ after seven years.
Megan left the village for a fresh start after Frank Clayton’s (Michael Praed) funeral following his tragic death in the factory fire, and she decided to take her daughter Eliza – whom she shares with Jai Sharma (Chris Bisson) – near Newcastle so she can be enrolled in a school dedicated to teaching children with cerebral palsy.
Her character left in a taxi meaning the door is open for a potential return, and she teased: "Well, exactly. Never say never. Who knows?"
The star previously explained she quit the soap to focus on new roles and fresh experiences as a performer – even though it is a big move to make.
She said: "It’s a risk. I need to push myself out of my comfort zone. I’ve always been the type of person who doesn’t want to stay playing the same character for too long."
